In January of 2022, my health began to collapse.

For two years prior, I had been working relentlessly — often 16 hours a day, seven days a week — after opening Purity Salt Cave and Healing Spa. I was passionate about helping others heal, but eventually my body reached its limit. It simply said, enough.

At first, I just felt generally unwell. Then the symptoms began to escalate in ways I had never experienced before.  The skin on my upper body burned all day long, yet somehow I felt cold inside. I was exhausted, anxious, deeply depressed, constantly nauseous, and my digestion was a mess. But the worst symptom of all was in my head. It felt like my brain was sitting in a pot of boiling water — 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  It was unbearable.  I didn’t know how much longer I could endure it.

I went to my doctor three separate times. Each time, my symptoms were dismissed as menopause.  But I knew something was terribly wrong.  I also went to the emergency room three different times because I was convinced I had severe ear infections. The burning and pressure in my head was that intense. For an entire year, it never stopped.

Throughout 2022, I searched desperately for answers. I visited acupuncturists, an osteopath, and two different naturopaths. I tried everything I could think of. Yet no one could determine what was happening.

My energy was so depleted that I could barely function. I was only able to work about two hours a day, and even that was a struggle.

Then finally, a small breakthrough came. One of my naturopaths suggested that my symptoms resembled those seen in people suffering from mold toxicity. That insight led me to someone who ran specialized testing — bloodwork and urine samples that were sent to a laboratory in California.  When the results came back, I finally had my answer.  I had Lyme disease… and mold toxicity in my body.

Just having a diagnosis brought relief. I finally knew what I was fighting.  On December 15, 2022, I traveled to Tennessee to work with holistic Lyme specialists. Over the course of the year, I spent four weeks there receiving intensive holistic treatments and supplements. By the time I finished, I had spent nearly $60,000, but I had also regained something priceless — about 50% of my health.  For the first time in a long while, I could enjoy life again.

By September of 2024, I had improved enough that I could either work about five hours a day or golf for five hours — but not both. If I pushed too hard, the boiling sensation in my head would start to return.

Then something unexpected happened.  A nurse I work with — who is also my mentor for BEMER therapy — introduced me to a series of natural health products she had discovered. She believed they could help me go even further in my recovery.  I decided to try them.  The protocol included:

• A product designed to safely remove harmful heavy metals from the body while leaving beneficial minerals intact
   
• A formula that targets unwanted organisms such as viruses, bacteria, parasites, yeast, fungus, and mold

Within two days of starting the protocol, something very strange happened.  My head began itching intensely — all day long. I was so convinced I had lice. I even bought a lice comb and began combing my hair constantly trying to find the bugs.  But there were none.

Then I wondered if my new cat had given me fleas. For nearly a month I kept scratching, combing, and searching.

And then suddenly… everything changed.

After that first month, my bowel movements became normal for the first time in over three years. The itching stopped. My anxiety and stress levels began to calm down.  Month by month, I kept improving.  Before long, I realized something remarkable.  I was working seven, eight, nine, ten… even sixteen hours a day — and the boiling sensation in my head never returned.

My energy came back stronger than ever.  People now joke that I’m the Energizer Bunny.

Today, I can handle stress with ease. I can travel, attend conferences, and even stay up until 5 a.m. with friends in Vegas — and still be the Energizer Bunny ready to start the next day!

My life continues to improve in ways I once thought were impossible.  These products have even introduced a new formula to support hormonal balance, which has been incredibly helpful for many women my age who thought they simply had to suffer through these menopausal changes.

My journey through Lyme disease was one of the most difficult experiences of my life but I am extremely grateful for the entire experience.  It revealed something deeply meaningful to me.

My purpose — my Ikigai — is to help others live the highest quality of life possible.

After everything I went through, I now have the knowledge, empathy, and tools to help others who feel hopeless, exhausted, or unheard.

Because I know what it feels like to be alone and to think you may never feel normal again.

And I also know what it feels like when your life finally comes back.   I can finally enjoy golf again without being tired.  My favourite golf day was when I played 45 holes.  Walking the front 18 and carting the rest.  Something I could not have done during the height of my illness.
